Shop accuracy begins with a benchmark straightedge as a surface reference. Being aluminium, it will not rust, and they are wide enough to stand on edge unsupported, so you have both hands free to make precise adjustments to your tools.
Extremely useful for setting up machines such as planers and jointers, they are 1 3/4" high and 7/16" thick, and the reference edge is machined flat to within 0.003" over the entire length.
The hole in the end makes for easy storage by hanging it on the wall, this way, its edges are kept safe away from other tools and objects that could cause them damage if stored in a kit or tool box.
