At Carbatec, International Women’s Day is a great day to celebrate and encourage women in woodworking. This year we had the honour of having Carol Russell and Jan Schilling to demonstrate to a group of 15 women in beginner woodworking along with cheese and wine. The ladies socialised, had some wine and cheese and learnt all new skills!
Spoon carving is a great activity for those looking to get into woodcarving but don’t know where to begin. You can the basic skills and come away with a piece of art that is also handy in the kitchen!
Jan Schilling taught the ladies how to use the Kreg K5 Jig and various Japanese Saws. She demonstrated the correct techniques for both tools and gave examples of her past projects to inspire.
Overall everyone had a great afternoon and none of this could happen without the support of Jan and Carol! Thank you ladies for supporting us throughout the years and to everyone that turned up to celebrate with us.
