We have updated the look & product code of our WDS-400 (now WDS-4080P), however be assured, all specifications of this machine are the same as our tried and tested WDS-400.
This machine is ideal for finish sanding or it can be used as a finish planer on curly-grained, quilted or birdseye timber. You are able to sand 400mm wide with one pass and 800mm with two passes, simply turn your board 180° for the second pass. A massive 125mm throat depth allows you to do larger pieces. Couple that with a powerful 1hp motor induction motor and you have a winning combination.
A dust extractor is a must with this machine. We recommend at least a 2HP dust collector and a M-039 adaptor to reduce your 4" (100mm) diameter hose down to the 2-1/2" diameter dust port size. Doing so will greatly increase the effectiveness of your machine and improve your results.

Remember to buy an abrasive cleaning stick with this machine to clear the paper and keep it cutting at optimal performance.
While Carbatec advertises that the minimum thickness capacity is 3mm, this is a safe thickness to go down to. Thinner material being fed through the sander may lift off the conveyor belt, giving an inaccurate result in the sanding process, and even get caught in the machine. For sanding thinner material, adhering the material/veneer to a backing board in order to keep it secure is recommended.
