"The Joiner and Cabinet Maker" is a huge 370 page book detailing handtool instruction, including many processes not covered in the early woodworking literature. This expanded edition starts from small woodworking book published in England in 1839. The book tells a fictional tale of Thomas - a 14 year boy who is apprenticed to a rural woodwork shop.
The book "The Joiner and Cabinet Maker" focused on how apprentices can obtain the basic skills needed to work in a hand-tool shop. During the story Thomas builds 3 projects and there is enough detail in the text and illustrations to re-create these projects just as they were built in 1839.
The expanded edition by Moskowitz includes a historical snapshot of early 19th-century England, footnotes to help understand the significance of the story, chapters on the project construction and complete construction drawings.
