Introducing the GALAXI DVR 1644 lathe - the headline act in the Nova line-up!
This lathe represents the ultimate blend of technology and simpicity, with the best features from larger lathes combined with state-of-the-art technology to make your woodturning experience more fun and safe. Quite simply, it is unparalleled in the market by any competitor product.
The DVR (Digital Variable Reluctance) direct drive motor is electronically controlled, so there are no belts, brushes or vibrations and it delivers maximum torque from the slowest speed of 100 rpm all the way through to 5000 rpm. The 1644 refers to its capacity, 16 being 16" / 406mm swing, while the 44 is 44" / 1117mm between centres. Turning the headstock 90° allows an impressive 29" / 750mm outboard capacity (with optional outrigger accessory). The 2HP motor provides an impressive amount of power, more than most 16" lathes available.
Nova DVR Series Lathes are the only lathes on the market to feature ADAPTIVE CONTROL software that adjusts the motor according to use - set your speed and the motor analyses the feedback hundreds of times per second, automatically adjusting to your pressure of cut, to keep you turning at your desired level. Set your speed according to use with an inbuilt chart featuring selections for "finishing" or "roughing" for example. Alternatively, four preset buttons provide up to 8 user definable quick speed settings according to your personal favourite speeds for the work you do. Of course, the speed is also infinitely variable between 100 and 5000RPM by the turn of the speed dial. The digital technology also introduces additional safety features such as "auto-stop" when the lathe detects a tool "dig-in".
The bed is precision ground allowing for the headstock, tailstock and banjo to be moved along the entire bed without any fear of them binding. All of these can be positioned anywhere along the entire length of the bed, according to the project at hand or personal preference. The headstock can swivel 360° and lock in at any position you choose, while preset indentations are available at common angles.
The tailstock has a compartment for holding a drive and live centre (both included) so they are always at hand, and easy to access. The banjo is also heavy duty and slides easily along the precision ground bed surface. It has a 12" / 305mm steady rest with a 1" post.
The extra heavy duty cast iron stand has been designed with convenience in mind, with provision for custom made shelves to be added by the user should this be desired (shelves not supplied). Adjustable feet are also incorporated into the casting of the bottom of the stand for adjustment should this be positioned on an uneven floor.
All this with an industry leading 2yr warranty on the motor and electronics, 5yr's on the rest!
If you desire the ultimate experience in woodturning, congratulations, you just found it.
