We have updated the look & product code of our CTJ-310 (now SM-1500P), however be assured, all specifications of this machine are the same as our tested and tried CTJ-310.
The new look Carbatec spindle moulder is the ideal addition to the hobbyist all the way up to a commercial workshop. It boasts a 1.5kW motor (2.0HP), with 2 speed spindle speeds at 8000 and 10000 RPM, with reverse being an option too. The extra-large heavy duty cast iron top (710 x 760mm) is ideal for a spindle moulder, the distance to the shaft is a massive 535mm allowing large panels or decorative boards to be machined with ease. Couple this with a power feed and you have a winning combo for sure!
For those end grain jobs, a mitre gauge is provided to fit in the mitre track allowing you to control the work piece better. The track also enables the user to make or use after-market jigs to complete specialized operations with ease and safety.
The fences are independently adjustable and micro-adjustable, and boast spring hold-downs so the workpiece will stay flat on the table as it moves past the cutter. At the rear of the fence is a 100mm dust port, allowing connection to a dust extractor to remove the vast amount of waste a spindle moulder produces.
When moving is required, the inbuilt wheels are useful, eliminating the need for the machine to sit on a mobile base, with the on/off switch is mounted high making it easily accessible.
The spindle size is 3/4", with a 30mm option available. 1/4" and 1/2" collets are provided for using router bits. If you choose the router bit mode be aware that the feed rate is going to be different to that of as router table due to the spindle speed. Ideally the machine is best used with large panel raising bits or other larger diameter bits that are more suited to lower spindle speeds.
The large paddle stop switch is mounted on a post for easy access on/off as well as emergency stop should the need arise.
